UT SHIS Announces Change in Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Effective October 1, 2009, Todd Johnson, PhD will step down as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Robert Vogler, DSN will assume those duties for The University of Texas School of Health Information Sciences at Houston (SHIS). As the school continues to grow in student numbers and programs, the educational endeavors continue to become more complex and the demand is high.
Under Johnson’s leadership, SHIS revised its degree programs, expanded online course offerings, created certificate programs, and increased the number of students and semester credit hours taught. Both Johnson and Vogler have been extensively involved in the ongoing Southern Association of Colleges and Schools reaccreditation process. The school looks forward to Johnson’s continued activities in curriculum development, coordinating SHIS strategic planning and now, more time for his research and teaching activities.
SHIS is fortunate to have Vogler on its faculty at this time. He has both the formal training and professional expertise for this position along with current knowledge of the school. Vogler will lead SHIS in addressing the current national demand for training in the school’s domains. Over the next few weeks, he will be sharing with SHIS faculty and staff his plans and initiatives going forward.
On behalf of the school, Jack Smith, MD, PhD, Dean would like to thank Dr. Johnson for his service as SHIS Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and welcome Dr. Vogler to his new role.
