Article 1: Name

The name of this body shall be the Alumni Organization of the School of Health Information Sciences (SHISAO).

Article II: Purpose

The purpose of the SHISAO is to 1) facilitate communication among and between the graduates of SHIS 2) provide activities that benefit its members and 3) provide support to the SHIS in recruitment, scholarships and preceptorships.

Article III: Membership

Membership in the SHISAO shall include all graduates from the SHIS with a masters or doctoral degree. The Director of Admissions, SHIS, shall be an ex officio member of SHISAO.

Article IV: Structure of the SHISAO

The SHISAO shall be presided over by a President whose term of office shall be one year commencing in September. A President elect and secretary/treasurer shall be additional officers that serve for a one-year term commencing in September.

Article V: Meetings

Meetings of the SHISAO will be held no more than three times/year. Meetings and/or voting may be conducted in-person or electronically, through email or computer conferencing. Special meetings may be called by the President or President Elect. Minutes of meetings will be taken by the Secretary/Treasurer and distributed to the membership.

Article VI: Amendment of Bylaws

These bylaws shall be amended by presentation, in writing, of any proposed amendments either electronically, or at general meetings at least two weeks prior to voting. A 2/3 vote of SHISAO members is required for adoption of an amendment.
