HI 5314 Technology Assessment in Healthcare
This course will focus on methods and processes to evaluate positive and negative impacts of various techniques, technologies and interventions in healthcare. The focus will be standard approaches for measuring various outcomes, and development and evaluation of technology assessment models. We also focus on merging different outcomes measurement to conduct unified approach to evaluate effectiveness of planned / implemented technologies, to compare different options. Finally, we will try to explore tool / software for the technology assessment.
In this course, "Technology in Healthcare" will be used in a very broad sense, encompassing all interventions, equipment, treatment, etc., that are used in the health care field to care for consumers. Mainly, cost-effectiveness analysis and cost-utility analysis will be used for the purpose, and occasionally the more general terms of "effectiveness" or "outcomes" analysis will be utilized.
