Information Visualization
information visualization is a key approach for making data meaningful. The visualizations below illustrate that even very simple techniques can help us understand and explore vast amounts of data. Applying these visualization to concepts extracted by more sophisticated techniques (such as statistical relational learning methods) could provide even more power.

The following Wordle graph shows frequency of occurrence of words in the first 500 titles and abstracts of JAMIA articles retrieved from PubMed on April 6, 2009. The emphasis on data and information is readily apparent.

The same JAMIA abstracts are shown below using a Phrase Net to show terms related by "the." This visualization suggests that the most common themes in recent JAMIA papers involve evaluating or assessing "impact" and "quality."
